The Hippodrome Theatre is the grand
survivor of Baltimore's Downtown movie houses. Other houses including Keith's, the Century, and the Stanley have all been
razed, while the Hippodrome has managed to survive. The theater opened
in 1914 as a vaudeville house and later showed movies until closing in
the 1980's. Standing vacant for years, the Hippodrome has been renovated and reopened in February 2004. |
