Brae Diner U.S. Rte. 40 just north of 152. Quite a famous diner, where a Diplomat from Africa could not get served back in the early 1960's. The issue made it all the way to the White House and President Kennedy. It appears the issue was that a black diplomat from Africa could not get served at the diner while traveling between Washington D.C. and New York City. The old diner was used in later years as a flea market and sat vacant for several years, before it was demolished in 2006. In early 2006 , the old diner disappeared from the location I don't believe any effort was made to save the old diner. Absolutely no mention was made about the demolition in the local news. |

Edgewood Rt 40 just north of Edgewood Road The Edgewood Motel is still standing and is still used to this day. This old postcard shows what must have been quite a sign in the front of the Motel back in the 1950's. That sign has been long been replaced. |
