![]() A look up Park Avenue at
Lexington Street ( 2004 ) offered a good view of
the New Theatre. While the main entrance was
located on Lexington Street for years, it had
since been converted to a store and was
impossible to spot. The entrance was moved to
Park Avenue years ago, and continued to show
movies into the 1980's. The theatre was a
clothing store, and was just torn down.

At one time, the area
surrounding the New Theatre had several movie
theaters. To the East was Keith's, the
Century/Valencia, ; to the West , the
Town, Hippodrome, and around the corner, was the
Howard , while a couple of blocks north were the
Stanley, Mayfair and Maryland. Movies haven't
been shown in the area for years, and most of
the old theater buildings have been torn down or
razed, but the New Theatre building, while no
longer showing movies, stood until 2010. |
