By the 1960's, there were still a few car dealerships located in Baltimore City proper, but the majority of the dealerships were moving out of downtown, and popping up along Belair Road in the Northeast section of the City, Rt 40 West Baltimore National Pike to the West, Ritchie Highway to the South, Eastern Avenue on the East, and Towson to the North , along the York Road corridor. Many of these smaller dealerships from the 1960's have closed up over the years, often being converted to used car dealerships, and in one example recently seen, a carry out. |

Webster Used Cars 4410 York Road Baltimore I have been told that this neat old stone building was used at one time as a new car dealership, but I have yet to find the evidence of that. I did find a ad from the early 1960's that shows the building being used as as used car dealership however. |

Triangle Chrysler
Plymouth 701 East 25th Street Baltimore Many Baltimore High Schools had contracts with local dealerships which allowed Driver's Education classes to use a dealer car for instruction. The practice appears to go back to the 1950's, and continued to the 1980's, with the dealership name on the side of the car. |
