| Since I
started working on Kilduffs back in 1999, I always
found references to the Midway Theatre in Middle
River around the 1940's, but little else. Every so
often, the Midway would be listed in an ad or
directory, but in late 2004 I finally found a
insurance map showing the location on Old Eastern
Avenue, almost directory south of the site of the
Hiway Theatre on Eastern Avenue. I went back in
2015 to see how the old theatre had fared, as the
area has been undergoing a lot of development
lately. I almost missed it, but one the third
pass, I found the Midway, still standing, as seen
below. |
