There were two
theatres that I have found listed for Union Bridge, in
Carroll County. In 1931, the 250 seat Ideal
Theatre, and later by 1938, the Carlton Theatre which
stayed open until atleast 1952 ( and much likely
longer ) , which seated between 200 and 600, according
to sources. We have been having a little trouble
locating information on the Carlton, and suspect the
building above, on Broadway just off of Main is the
old theatre building, built around 1937, but we're not
completely sure.
Below is the old
town hall, at 10 East Broadway, which showed movies
under the name of the Ideal , until 1937, at which
point the town had a movie theatre built, the Carlton.
The building was also used as the town fire station
for many years, and is now known as the Firehouse
Studio. ( Any additional information and corrections
would be GREATLY appreciated )
