Ford's Theatre was the place to see the live shows, plays, movies ( every so often ) and even magic shows, when it was around, from the 1870's to the mid 1960's.  An old program page from Ford's advertises the upcoming Thurston the Magician show, with a show even on Christmas Day !

Howard Thurston was a magician, who traveled around the United States, in what was believed to be the largest traveling vaudeville magic show of the time. In a show that started out as the Thurston- Kellar Show, Howard Thurston passed away in 1936.
