6 North Washington Street
Easton, Maryland |
............................... The site of the old Easton Theatre
in Easton Maryland. I haven;t been able to locate a
photo of the old theatre yet, but insurance maps
have placed the theatre at this corner. I'm not sure
when the building was torn down or why, but I'll
keep looking. At the other end of the block, on
Dover Street, is the Avalon (AKA New Theatre) which
still stands and is used as a Performing Arts
Center. On the other side of Dover Street, midway in
the block, was a small early nickeldeon, which "may"
have gone by the name of the Pastime Theatre. That
little theatre was not used for long and was across
the Street from the Talbot Bank building. That
theatre building is no longer around and the site
has a new building standing on it.

Above is a old postcard looking East on
Dover Street. Where the two children are walking
is about where the small theatre ( Pastime ? )
might have been. Perhaps these are patrons going
to the movies, hey , you never know. While the bank
building is still standing, much of the rest of the block
shows little of the past. Below, a
current picture of the view seen above in
the postcard. |

Kilduff's
really isn't into newer gas station
buildings, but we threw in this shot to show you a
block in Easton , where another small early nickelodeon
had been. This tiny theatre was also on
Dover Street near he corner of Locust Street.
As you can tell, nothing remains of any of
the old block.
