One of
the two surviving theatres in Baltimore built
before 1950 ( that only shows movies ) . The
Charles is doing well, and along with the
Senator Theatre, are the only two theatres on
this survey in Baltimore City that still show
movies, besides X rated theatres. The Charles
has been showing " art films " and films you
won't see at the mall theatres, and have quite
a following. The Charles recently underwent a
renovation, and has several different screens
today. I saw several films at the Charles back
in the 1980's, and I have to admit it was
quite a fun place to see a movie. Back then it
showed it's years, but the movies were always
fun and the variety of films they had were
nice. |

the time, the theater was known as the Times
Theatre, and was listed in this ad along with
the Roslyn Theatre which was located on Howard
