| Sports Centre North Avenue Baltimore, Maryland ......................................................................................
I've read a lot about the Sports Centre on North Avenue. There were ice hockey teams from local high school practicing here, ( Poly was only a block away ), and figure skating was also available here as well. From what I could read , the original building appears to have dated back to the 1890's, but was rebuilt in the early 1930's. Also known as the North Avenue Casino , it housed a ice skating rink which was 75 feet wide and 185 feet long. The outside of the building was reported to have a brilliant display of neon , and inside you could find winter sports, skating, hockey, and more. The building is gone and now an empty lot occupies the site. |
