 The Silver Theatre opened on September 14, 1938  , seating just under 1,000.The theatre is currently run as the AFI Silver Theatre.
 Before the Silver, movies were shown in the Seco Theatre, at 8244 Georgia Avenue , which seated about 500 to 663 people. The Seco was listed from atleast the early 1930's to the 1950's. The Viers Mill Theatre was another Silver Spring Theatre in the early 1950's,  located at 12202 Viers Mill Rd, which has since been converted into a drugstore.
