| ..I might be way off, but after looking at
old maps, reading and actually looking at a old postcard
of the Ridgely that was online, I believe this might be
the old Ridgely theatre. The usual stone work on the
side of the building matches what I saw in the postcard
( which I'm still trying to get a copy of .....hint hint
), and the address of the building above matches the
address seen on insurance maps. I had heard that the
theatre may have burned in the 1960's, but my best guess
is the apartments were built in the shell of the old
theatre. Just a guess.....any help would be GREATLY
appreciated ! |

In 1931 - The
Community Theatre was listed for Ridgely Maryland -
seating 300. By 1938, it was the Ridgely Theatre
listed, which was listed into the 1950's, seating
290 and 300 people. I have seen postcards of the old
theatre, but have yet to get a copy for the website.
We have heard rumors of the demise of the old
theatre, but a recent check of map shows the
building might actually still be there........
