right, this spot would be where the tiny Rio Theatre
once stood. I believe the theatre was torn down to
make way for the enlarging of the canal many years ago.

![]() Two Older postcards of
Chesapeake City, but I'm not sure if the Rio was still
standing when the pictures were taken or not. If so,
the Rio would be right about where the white dot would
be in the water, on the left side, just below the
bridge at the end of the road. This postcard
does give a nice view of the bridge, the town and the
path of the old long bridge however. Below is just a
nice older postcard of the bridge.

the earlier years of Chesapeake City, I've seen
references to movies being shown in the Masonic Hall.
I don't believe the old hall is still standing.

for Chesapeake City area : In 1931, the Film Daily listed the New Theatre for Chesapeake City in Cecil County. By 1938, it was the Rio Theatre, at 375 George Street - West of 1st Street , which seated between 194 and 200 and was Razed in 1962 .
