There seem to be
more postcard shots of the old Maryland Theatre, than any other theater
in town. On any given day, you can find a postcard on EBAY, but
it seems to be the only theater to have gotten postcard shots
made of it. More of a legitimate theater, the Maryland was part of
Kernan's Corner, the group of theaters at Franklin Street and Howard
Street, which included the Maryland, Auditorium,
and Academy of Music.
The Maryland was razed back in the 1950's, and the Congress Hotel next
door was vacant for years, but has been renovated and is due to reopen
soon.
