Not hard to spot, the
tiny Gilmore Theatre continues to be used as a church.
Baltimore has in it's history, many of these small movie
houses that were built in the 1900's into the 1920's, but
most have since been torn down. The Gilmore is just one
block south of the I-70 " mini highway " which had traveled
East-West between Greene Street and Pulaski Street , .
Entire blocks were razed back in the 1960's and 1970's
for the " highway that goes nowhere ", but the Gilmore
was spared. The old Gilmore Theatre is a nice example of
how the smaller theaters of the day looked, and is in excellent
condition. The building has been used for years as a
church. ........................................... ..... ![]() ..............................................................................................................................................................Photo by Kevin Mueller |
