The Carroll Theatre opened in the
late 1930's, joining the State Theatre which was located down the street at
46 West Main Street ( later torn down ) . Earlier movies could also be seen
in Westminster at the Ki-Yi O Motion Picture Parlor or the Star Theatre
on West Main Street, or in the Odd Fellows Hall , in the new Opera room,
which opened in 1912.
The Carroll Theatre has been renovated recently and is now
the Carroll County Arts Center. The Art Deco theatre looks great, as
can be seen in these recent photos. Below, you can see an old ad circa
1961 from the Western Maryland College yearbook ( Now Hood College ).
