What we thought might have been the end of the Crest , turned out to by the reusing of the building by the owner and the State of Maryland. In the pictures below, you can see where the side walls of the auditorium was torn down, but the shell was reused and I must admit , considering the options, not a bad job !

While the front and lobby sections seem to been saved from demolition , the rear section of the building has been gutted, and the old theatre has been transformed into a local Motor Vehicles office ( Once again lines at the Crest ! ) . The theatre was used for years as a church.

Opening day for the Crest Theatre, circa 1949. Located in the Hilltop Shopping Center  at Reisterstown Road and Rogers Avenue, in Northwestern Baltimore City.  The theatre had 1,700 seats, with seats equipped with extra leg room and two smoking loges. When the Crest opened it's doors, the owner filed a lawsuit to argue that it should be allowed to show more first run movies, which at the time were shown at downtown movie theatres.
