What we thought might have been the end of the Crest , turned out to by the reusing of the building by the owner and the State of Maryland. In the pictures below, you can see where the side walls of the auditorium was torn down, but the shell was reused and I must admit , considering the options, not a bad job !
While the front and lobby sections seem to
been saved from demolition , the rear section of the
building has been gutted, and the old theatre has
been transformed into a local Motor Vehicles office
( Once again lines at the Crest ! ) . The theatre
was used for years as a church.

Opening day for the Crest
Theatre, circa 1949. Located in the Hilltop
Shopping Center at Reisterstown Road and
Rogers Avenue, in Northwestern Baltimore City.
The theatre had 1,700 seats, with seats
equipped with extra leg room and two smoking
loges. When the Crest opened it's doors, the
owner filed a lawsuit to argue that it should be
allowed to show more first run movies, which at
the time were shown at downtown movie theatres. .
