![]() It appears the old
Avalon Theatre is one of the survivors of old
movie theaters in Maryland. The theatre opened in
1921, and a listing in 1951 showed the theatre
seating 620, with only the New Easton as another
theatre in town at that time. The building
has been turned into a Performing Arts Center, and
the theatre has also shown the address of 35
Harrison as well. In earlier years, around the
1910, the town's theatre was the Pastime Theatre
on Dover Street , which has long since closed.

listed in the mid 1910's - seating 600 with the
theatre on the second floor. - no longer exists.
New ( Listed in 1928 - seating 750 ) Pastime - Early theatre - Dover Street. I actually found TWO early Dover Street theatres, trying to figure which is which. One was located at 316 Dover Street , over near Lane Street. That theatre, which appears to have been a nickelodeon, was torn down years ago. Across the street from the Talbot Bank was another early theatre, with the address of 15 Dover Street. ![]() |
