In the 1940's , movie houses were beginning
to show up in the shopping centers that were popping up all around the Baltimore
Area. Middle River was where much of the war efforts in aircraft development
were undergoing at Martin Marietta, and the Aero Theatre, named after the
nearby plant opened in the 1940's. The theater appears to have been the subject
of a Library of Congress photo of suburban theaters seen below, but when
I checked the area in the 1980's, the theater was hard to spot, and appears
that it was used as a warehouse for years, before being torn down. The site
is currently a Food Lion store and the old theatre building has been completely
