Catonsville had the Alpha Theater
for years, located in the 700 block of Frederick Road. The building had quite
a front back in the 1930's, but after closing in the 1960's, the building
has been altered and used as various stores, and is impossible to spot. However,
a check in the rear of the block reveals the theater, with the back twice
as long as the other buildings. Listings were found all the way back to 1930
for the Alpha, seating between 500 and 550. In 1928, the only theatre listed
for Cattonsville ( sic ) is the Caton.
