110 South Broadway, Baltimore City, Maryland ( Fell's Point ) |
| One of a handful
of surviving move houses that still shows movies in Baltimore, The Apex is
showing X rated flicks, and has been as long as I can remember. Fells Point
had the Leader,
the Broadway
and the Cluster,
but today only the Apex, which seats about 672 survives today. |

Current look at the Apex, Circa 2003. The marquee has been fixed, and the
neon glows again ! The Apex has continued to show movies ( alas : the
adult kind ! ) for the entire time I have been working on the survey. The
Apex and Earle
continue to show movies, while other theaters that also showed X rated films
for a while closed, including the Rex,
Little,
Northway,
and Carlton. |

The Apex opened in the 1940's, and while it is not the most attractive theater to settle on Broadway, it has out survived the Broadway, Cluster and Leader Theatres. The theater survived in the 1970's, when it began to show X-rated movies, which it continues to show to this day. |
