The Ambassador has in recent
years, been used as a church, a beauty school, and
again as a church. The theater was built in the mid
1930's, and it's opening helped shut down the Gwynn
across the street. The Ambassador is a real gem of
a building, and the exterior has survived the years
quite well although the interior has been completely
gutted. In July 2009 , the building was up for auction,
but as of 2014, no one has bought the building. The
building still stands as of 2014, but suffered a recent
fire, which might affect the future of the building. ![]() References - Film Daily Yearbook - 1936 ( seated 1200 ) Polk's Baltimore City Directory - 1940 Film Daily Yearbook - 1943 ( seated 900 ) Baltimore Newspaper Movie Schedule - 1948 showing " Walls of Jericho" Film Daily Yearbook - 1950 ( seated 1049 ) Baltimore Street Guide 1954 Baltimore Newspaper Movie Schedule - 1957 showing " Battle Cry " Baltimore Newspaper Movie Schedule - 1958 showing " God's Little Acre" Baltimore Newspaper Movie Schedule - 1962 showing " Two for the SeeSaw " with Robert Mitchum F ................................................................ ..... ...... ![]() |
